Why is telephone line monitoring vulnerable?

  • Demarcation points are commonly visible at the side of buildings or directly on the street
  • Demarcations or overhead telephone lines are easily cut or damaged
  • Monitoring stations cannot immediately tell if communication is lost between them and alarm systems
  • A monitoring station can only determine this due to absence of signal after 24 hours ***This Scenario is to late***
  • Some alarms will also tell you they could not send information, this is realised by the alarm user when they are entering the building normally for the next days operation, again this is to late to find your alarm had activated
  • By phoning the alarm premises, telephone lines can be "grabbed" this will result in the alarm being unable to send information
  • Commonly faxes use the same telephone line as an alarm. If a fax is being received and the alarm activates, again no signals can be sent by the alarm
  • Vehicle accidents have damaged external telephone lines and cables preventing alarms from sending signals
  • Delays of up to 8 minutes have been experienced in information being sent over telephone lines by alarm systems
